From the screen to the bedside

CliniQ+ is the learning facilitator that bridges the gap between educational theory and the messy, human reality of psychiatric care. Build your confidence, not your dependency.

The Problem

Clinical training is inconsistent by design

Medical students rely on chance encounters and variable supervision. The result: uneven skill development and unaddressed competency gaps.

Limited Teaching Time

Systemic NHS pressures, high workloads, and strict efficiency targets leave supervisors without protected teaching time. This creates a “hidden curriculum” where students perceive that clinicians are simply too busy to teach, severely restricting opportunities for structured bedside encounters.

No Structured Reflection

While current medical curricula emphasize outcome-based competencies, the actual process of learning from patient interactions remains underspecified. Complex interpersonal skills developed at the bedside—like empathy and rapport—resist easy standardization and quantification, meaning students often move on without structured reflection or evaluation.

Performance Anxiety & Skill Gaps

Students often fear “saying the wrong thing” to patients, creating a psychological barrier to learning. This is compounded by educators who report gaps in their own confidence to facilitate effective teaching.

How It Works

Three steps to structured learning

01

Choose your context

Select the type of exercise and learning context. Tailor each exercise to your learning needs.

02

AI generates your exercise

By analysing your past exercises, the AI acts as a pedagogical scaffold—targeting your clinical blind spots, introducing unpractised topics, and progressively increasing case nuance to push your clinical reasoning further.

03

Practice, reflect, grow

Use the exercise in clinical settings, then reflect with AI-guided modifiable prompts. Build your portfolio with every session.

Two Core Modes

One platform, two powerful exercise types

Bedside Teaching

Supervised clinical encounters, structured by AI

Generate complete bedside teaching exercises for real patient encounters. Each exercise includes tailored instructions for students and supervisors aligned to clinical competencies.

Major Depressive Disorder — Mental State Examination

Learning Objectives

Conduct a focused mental state examination on a patient presenting with low mood. Demonstrate systematic assessment of appearance, behaviour, speech, mood, affect, thought form and content.

Student Instructions

Introduce yourself and obtain consent. Begin with open questions about how the patient is feeling. Systematically work through each MSE domain. Pay particular attention to affect — describe its range, congruence with mood, and reactivity.

Supervisor Guidance

Observe the student's approach to rapport building and their systematic coverage of MSE domains. Note whether they assess risk factors. Prompt if cognitive examination is missed. Debrief on affect documentation.

Key Teaching Points

Distinguishing between mood (subjective) and affect (objective). The importance of documenting both range and reactivity of affect. When to escalate — red flags in thought content assessment.

Reflective Questions

What aspects of the MSE did you find most challenging? How would you adapt your approach for an acutely distressed patient? What did you learn about the relationship between mood and affect?

OSCE Roleplay

Psychosis Assessment — 10 Minute OSCE Station

Station Overview

10-minute station. Candidate must take a focused psychiatric history from a patient experiencing first-episode psychosis. Assess for hallucinations, delusions, and risk.

Candidate Brief

You are a junior doctor in the emergency department. Mr. James Carter, 22, has been brought in by his flatmate who is concerned about his behaviour over the past 3 weeks. Take a focused history and assess his mental state.

Simulated Patient Script

You are James, 22, a university student. Over the past 3 weeks you've been hearing voices commenting on your actions. You believe your lectures are being recorded to monitor you. You're sleeping poorly. If asked directly, admit to the voices reluctantly.

Examiner Marking Guide

Rapport and communication (0-3). Elicits hallucination history — type, frequency, content (0-3). Explores delusional beliefs systematically (0-3). Assesses risk to self and others (0-3). Formulates appropriate initial management plan (0-3).

Expected Findings

Auditory hallucinations: third-person commentary. Persecutory delusions: surveillance beliefs. No formal thought disorder. Insight partially preserved. Low immediate risk but requires further assessment.

Progression Engine

Nothing falls through the cracks

Transformative learning is not about spoon-feeding answers to challenges, it's about making the productive learning struggle more accessible. CliniQ+ guides every clinical encounter, through exercises and reflective prompts grounded in established learning theories, helping you build your clinical skills, professional identity, and a structured portfolio for your supervisors.

Beating ‘Checklist Medicine’

The pressure of modern assessments often forces students to perform for the exam rather than the patient. The engine actively guides you past rigid algorithms and into nuanced, patient-centred reasoning.

Curing the ‘Illusion of Competence’

Standard “answer-giving” AI tools bypass the struggle of clinical reasoning, eroding independent skills. CliniQ+ ensures you face the productive friction needed to actually master complex tasks.

Overcoming Clinical Anxiety

Fear of “saying the wrong thing” often keeps trainees away from the bedside. The engine scales clinical complexity at your own pace, building the confidence required for real-world patient interactions.

Targeted Skill Building

The system continuously scans your history to identify unpractised or under-practised competencies, ensuring your clinical readiness is broad, balanced, and free of blind spots.

Clinical Portfolio

Learn deeper. Reflect better.

CliniQ+ automatically translates your clinical practice into a structured logbook. Every scenario and clinical decision is documented, providing you with ready-made evidence of your progression for assessments and supervision.

Automated Logbook Entries

Instead of manually logging cases, every completed exercise is instantly saved to your learning history, building a comprehensive, chronological record of your clinical encounters over time.

Competency Mapping

Your practice is mapped directly to a definitive taxonomy of clinical topics and specific micro-skills—such as risk assessment, history taking, and formulation—ensuring your portfolio reflects targeted educational outcomes.

Supervisor Integration

Seamlessly share your documented clinical encounters with your supervisors. Provide clear visibility into your self-directed learning to facilitate highly targeted feedback and supervision sessions.

Exportable Evidence

Instantly generate formatted PDF records of your scenarios and clinical reasoning. These documents serve as tangible proof of your clinical exposure, ready to be uploaded directly into your official training portfolios.

* Mapping of competencies can be modified based on your institution's curriculum

Future Vision

What's coming next

We are building the future of clinical education, one feature at a time. Here is where we are heading.

Coming Soon

Multi-Professional Expansion

Healthcare isn’t practised in silos. We are expanding the CliniQ+ engine beyond medical students to scaffold clinical reasoning for nursing, paramedics, and allied health professionals, including shared MDT scenarios.

On the Roadmap

Beyond Psychiatry

The CliniQ+ engine is designed to extend across medical specialties. Cardiology, neurology, and more — structured clinical learning for every discipline.

On the Roadmap

Proactive Personalisation

Get intelligent, highly tailored clinical exercise suggestions pushed directly to your dashboard. We’ll eliminate the guesswork by anticipating your learning gaps before you even click to design a scenario.

On the Roadmap

Institutional Vision Alignment

Aligning with the NHS 10-Year Plan’s shift toward decentralised care, future algorithms will specifically target the unique ambiguity and clinical challenges of primary care, home visits, and neighbourhood health centres. We also plan to develop features based on the Royal College of Psychiatry projects, e.g. formulation skills, addiction and substance misuse skills, etc.

On the Roadmap

Ambient Clinical Debriefs

To further reduce screen time, we are exploring secure, ambient audio integration. CliniQ+ will securely listen to your live debrief and reflections with your supervisor, and instantly generate your reflections’ summary.

On the Roadmap

Institutional Analytics

Advanced dashboards for programme directors to track cohort-wide competency coverage and measure educational outcomes.
